Shandor Garrison is a prolific, award-winning filmmaker from Brooklyn, NY. The son of two hippies struggling to make ends meet, Shandor lived in 11 different cities in the first 11 years of his life. Writing became a refuge for him, and in 1st grade he was the youngest student in his school selected to participate in the Iowa Writers Workshop for Young Writers. As an adult, Shandor has kept moving, teaching English to Japanese kindergarteners, insulating homes in Vermont, counseling HIV+ teens, working on a New England educational farm, and waiting tables in a 4 star French restaurant. Eventually he joined his love of writing with his passion for visual storytelling and began writing and directing narrative films. Previous to APPROPRIATE SEX, Shandor has made 7 short films: NO ONE'S A MYSTERY (2000), FREEBOX (2003), SPLATTER DAY SAINTS (2005), THE FINES (2006), JIM THE RAPIST (2007), NETHERMEAD (2009), THE 49th DAY (2009) and the web series BROOKLYN IS FOR LOVERS. He was named "Most Promising New England Director" by the Boston Underground Film Festival, and his short films have won awards at film festivals and been broadcast on PBS and IFC. He is currently pursuing his masters degree in filmmaking at New York University.
